French River Fishing Lodge
The French River is more like a series of lakes connected by rapids, with numerous islands, inlets, and bays. Located just over three hours north of Toronto, The Wolseley Lodge, near Noëlville, Ontario, offers 16 immaculate, rustic cabins that were originally built in 1928. In each log cabin, we have retained the individual quaint charms while adding modern conveniences that will make your stay comfortable and safe. The cabins vary in size, and have anywhere from one to four bedrooms each.
The French River is fishing heaven, with almost 100% of the shoreline intact and in its native state. Panfish, like perch and sunfish are plentiful, and northern, walleye, muskie, and both largemouth bass and smallies, are well-represented. Trophy-sized walleye, surpassing 30”, and monstrous muskie, over 50”, are caught every year, so always be prepared for the fish of a lifetime. Sturgeon, channel cats, and whitefish call the French River home, too.
Be sure to bring along a camera, the scenic natural beauty provides spectacular views for photographers, bird-watchers, and artists alike. The Wolseley Lodge also offers many activities besides fishing. Cruising on our Pontoon boat, swimming, watching beautiful sunsets, and hiking through the woods all add to the allure of vacationing with us.
Our housekeeping cabins are fully-equipped with all the comforts of home. Each kitchen has the basic appliances necessary to prepare, cook, and serve meals. If cooking is the last thing you want to do, our American plans include meals at the main lodge, which is also open to the public. Our popular Friday night buffet includes roast turkey, beef, and our famous Wolseley Lodge ham. There are two seatings on Friday evenings, and reservations are required. We can also provide a box lunch for guests to take out on the water. The lodge has a full bar. All of our entrees are prepared from scratch, and we take pride in the quality food and service we provide.
Fishing packages include free fire wood, so when the day is done, it’s time to just kick back, relax, and gaze at the fire, reminiscing about the day’s catch, with anticipation for the new day’s adventures.
