Kanipahow Wilderness Resort

Chapleau Cabins and Cottages

Kanipahow Wilderness Resort main base is nestled on the shores of Chapleau Lake. The town of Chapleau is located 8.5 hours north of Toronto, 3.5 hours north east of the Sault St. Marie, Michigan border and 9.5 hours north of the Buffalo, New York border. Chapleau was voted the World Fishing Network’s Ultimate Fishing Town of North America for 2011. At this location we have 5 fully equipped housekeeping cottages with access to the internet. We have boats and motors for rent, but if you rather you can bring your own boat, use our boat launch and park your boat at your own dock. You have 13 miles of remote fishing along the river and five adjoining lakes for walleye, northern pike and jumbo perch right from your dock, but a short drive will get you to lake trout and brook trout fishing. We also offer select serviced water front trailer sites and camping spots.

If you are looking for a more remote experience, we also offer outpost cabins: Embarass Lake has walleye and northern pike on main lake with two back lakes sporting northern pike. Moose Lake sports northern pike. You can drive to these locations, boat in and be totally private. The cabins are fully equipped with kitchen utensils, BBQ, propane fridges and stove tops and absolutely stunning scenery. For more adventure, a short drive will take you to other small lakes in the area for more fishing pleasure. We also offer a fly in, Eaton Lake, again with only one cabin on the lake. Enjoy northern pike, walleye, bass and lake trout fishing on the main lake or take a day trip with an easy hike to other back lakes for a great day of sport.

Kanipahow Wilderness Resort is located next door to the Chapleau Game Preserve, the largest game preserve in the world. Our fall bear, moose and world class ruffed grouse and spruce grouse hunts have been very successful. Chapleau is known for its abundant, large black bears; camp record is 495 lbs. Our BMA covers 250 square kms. 90% of our customers have several sightings thereby allowing seasoned hunters to wait for their trophy bear. We can accommodate both rifle and bow hunts. Bring along your ATV and explore the many available miles of logging roads and trails.
