West Nipissing Resort provides boat rentals for fishermen and other Visitors who want to discover the area’s natural rugged landscape. Boats can be rented and docked with or without cottage rentals.

The resort’s 14 cottages sleep between one and eight people and include full baths and fully stocked kitchens. The accommodations feature decks, barbecue grills screened-in porches and fantastic lake views.

For visitors who just want to fish, the resort offers a basic fisherman’s outpost. The outpost provides three bedrooms and indoor toilet and shower facilities, a fully equipped kitchen and a front deck. All of the West Nipissing Resort accommodations can be rented on a nightly basis throughout the year even in July and August when availability permits.

Guests who like to do more than fish can still find plenty to do at the West Nipissing Resort. The resort offers free: fire pit usage, horseshoe pits, paddleboats, canoes, kayaks. Resort visitors can enjoy canoeing on the lake or riding ATVs in the area. Birdwatchers, photographers and people who appreciate observing wildlife in their natural habitat will find plenty to see and do. There are shopping and dining options in the nearby towns of Sturgeon Fall, North Bay and Sudbury.

Lake Nipissing comes alive for fishermen in the winter. Lake Nipissing is known as the ice fishing capital of the north. The lake is filled for catching perch, walleye, pike and whitefish. There are several places on Lake Nipissing to enjoy the sport of ice fishing come on up!

Our lodge is located where the West Arm Narrows divides 14 miles of narrow, deep channels west of the lodge and the shallow waters of West Bay to the east.   Beyond West Bay the lake opens into what the locals call the Big Lake.  It is nearly 30 miles from the lodge, and across the Big Lake, to where Nipissing empties into the French River.  Lakair Lodge is an official dealer of Lake Nipissing maps issued by the Canadian Hydrographic Services. 

This area of Lake Nipissing offers miles of sheltered waters with prime fishing structure, including deep water reefs and large shallow weed flats, home to a great number of pan-fish and larger predators including large- and small-mouth bass, walleye, northern pike and the giant musky.

Spectacular scenery makes for great photography opportunities. The many rocky cliffs and islands are covered by tall pines shaped by our fair-weather south-westerly breezes.  You can explore numerous back channels, bays, deserted islands and miles of wilderness shoreline.

Lakair Lodge has 14 cottages ranging in size from one to four bedrooms.  We have a fleet of 15 rental boats, all 18’ Giesler cedar-strip boats powered by 15 hp Yamaha motors.  Docking is available for up to 40 boats.  Electrical hook-ups are available with some docks.   We provide free wireless internet to our cottages. Lakair offers a choice of Housekeeping Plan or American Plan (meals included) packages.

Our 20 unit camp grounds /trailer park is located 300 to 500 feet from the lake, nestled beneath the shade of large white pines.  You can hike one of Ontario’s newest wilderness parks, Mashkinonje Provincial Park, located immediately north of our property.

Note:  although we sell fishing licences at our office you can now purchase your fishing license online from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources website. This saves time and means you can start fishing the minute you arrive.

The wilderness around Moose Point Cottages is full of wildlife, making it a great spot for hunting.  Each fall we provide hunters with accommodations and maps of the best areas for finding the birds.  Our hunting packages all include boat and motor so you can fish and hunt to your heart’s desire.  Bring your own ATV and ride the crystal Falls area in the unlimited trails and bush roads.

Our spacious 2100 square foot log lodge was built in 1945 by an American Oil Company as a fishing retreat for its executives. The lodge was constructed of all hand-hewn logs from the area, and it is one of the most impressive log lodges in Northwestern Ontario. The lodge is where meals are served, and is open 24 hours a day so you can relax, meet new friends, shoot a game of pool or watch satellite TV, on large 50″ screen television whenever it is convenient.

HOUSEKEEPING PLAN
This plan includes an immaculate cottage with waterfront view. All cottages have hot and cold running water, modern 3 to 4 piece bathrooms, and are heated and completely furnished: stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, toaster, automatic coffee maker, bed linens, blankets and towels are included. Our Housekeeping Plan package also includes a 16ft. Lund boat, 20hp electric start Yamaha motor, swivel seats, and gas daily for every two fisherman.

EVENING MEAL PLAN
This plan includes everything in the Housekeeping Plan in addition to our phenomenal Evening Meal in our log Lodge.

AMERICAN PLAN PACKAGES
This is the all inclusive plan that includes superb waterfront accommodations, 4 piece bathrooms, plenty of hot water, propane or electric heat, refrigerator and automatic coffee maker. All bed linens, blankets and towels are provided as well as daily maid service. Also included in the package are a boat, motor and gas for every two fishermen. This plan includes three delicious home-cooked meals a day.   Dishes include Baby Back Ribs, Roast Beef, Chicken, Stir-fry, New York Strip Steak & Shrimp, etc., along with homemade bread, soup, salads, potatoes, vegetables and various desserts and pies.

Walleye, pike, smallmouth bass and perch are our main catch.  But, being part of the Lake Huron water system means that the possibilities are almost endless, including musky, sturgeon, salmon and trout.

WHAT TO EXPECT

There are 10 cottages, 7 are directly on the shoreline and 3 are just back from the shore. Marten River has over 30 kms of motor boat accessible waterway in the southern Temagami wilderness.  Lots of Crown shoreline and beaches to explore or fish in.

We are just 1/2 hour south of the historic village of Temmagami and the Temagami Fire Tower that is open to the public for a spectacular view of the region. Or you can sit by the beach & playground area and enjoy the view.  Paddle boats and kids kayaks are included in the geal.  In the evening enjoy a fire at your fire pit wood is available at a reasonable price.
