Moose Horn Lodge:  Paradise All Year Long

For the ultimate getaway, choose Moose Horn Lodge in Chapleau, Ontario, Canada any time of the year.  They are located only four hours from the Michigan border and nine hours from Toronto.  For guests coming from the US, a passport is needed.

Anglers and hunters will find few other places with the same high success rates.   Walleye, northern pike, brook trout, smallmouth bass and whitefish are plentiful in the unlimited number of lakes in the area.  For anglers, watching walleye come right up to the boat is a sight not soon forgotten.  Bring a video camera to show friends who think that you are spinning a “fish story”.  If a hunter goes home empty handed, it is because he didn’t go hunting.  Chapleau is home to the largest black bear concentration in Canada.  There is an excellent moose population in the area as well as some of the best grouse hunting in Ontario.

The lodge is located on McLennan Lake near the town of Chapleau which has just been named “The Ultimate Fishing Town in Canada”.  The lodge is 10 miles from the largest Crown Game Preserve, the largest in the world.  It is accessible by traveling north on Hwy. 129 from Thessalon or east on Hwy. 101 from Wawa.

A hot tub and sauna soothes the muscles and allows the pressures of everyday life to melt away.  Wireless internet connections are available in the main lodge.

In the winter, snow blankets the area with majestic beauty.  Trekking by cross country skis or snowshoes allows visitors to view the areas’ breathtaking sights.  You can also bring your skates and skate on the rink that is available right outside your door.  For those who would like to snowmobile, the lodge is only a mile from the OFSC Trail F system.  Unlike trails in southern Ontario and the Northern US that are packed with snowmobiles, we have the luxury of hundreds of miles of pristine trails right outside your door with no bumper to bumper traffic.

Bring plenty of film and memory cards so friends, family and co-workers can enjoy the beauty you experienced.  Take pictures of one of the greatest winter paradises in the world.   The lodge is open all year.
