Island 10 Fishing Retreat

Island 10 Fishing Retreat on Lady Evelyn Lake in Northeastern Ontario

An island paradise, waiting to be rediscovered.

Lady Evelyn Lake, a six hour drive north of Toronto, is known to be one of the finest walleye lakes in Ontario. It is over 35 miles in length, with 19000 acres of water, 650 miles of shoreline, many islands, coves, and bays, and most importantly, no road access.  You cannot drive to Lady Evelyn Lake, or to Island 10 Fishing Retreat. Access is by double boat or float plane. It’s also an excellent northern pike and smallmouth bass fishery. When you visit Island 10 we can also introduce you to lake trout and brook trout, but not in the main lake.

Island 10 Fishing Retreat is an all-inclusive, (American Plan) lodge, located mid way down the lake, with 10 cabins and an average weekly occupancy of 26 to 32 guests. Guests are met Saturdays at 9 AM at Mowatts Landing on the Montreal River, some 12 miles west of Hwy 11 and approximately two hrs. north of North Bay, Ontario. After ferrying two miles down and across the river, guests walk 400 yards to the lake and are taken another 12 miles by cruiser to the island. We refer to this as a double boat trip. Luggage is ferried by Island 10 staff. Minimum stay, because we are remote, is five days, that is Saturday through Thursday, however most guests stay the seven days, leaving for home the following Saturday.

Island 10 is indeed “active seclusion”. Guests come to relax, fish, and enjoy life on one of the prettiest lakes in Canada. You bring only your tackle and clothing. Accommodations are some of the best, with bedding and towels provided, and are cleaned and beds made daily. 16 ft Lund boats are provided with pedestal seats, 25 hp electric start motors, fish finders, anchors, rubber landing nets, and bait, and are cleaned, re-fueled, and serviced daily. Also your fish are cleaned for you.

Food is a priority at the Island. You eat as much as you want starting with a big welcome buffet when you arrive, hearty breakfasts, box lunches or shore lunch kits provided for you, and oh, the suppers. All are “family style” and it doesn’t end there. After the evening fishing, the goodie table is available. Come and help yourself!

Due to its’ size, remoteness, conservation practices, and without ready access, Lady Evelyn has remained a premier fishery. Our season begins each year on the third Saturday of May and runs through the third week in September. Prior to this the angling season is closed.

Come and enjoy Island 10 and Lady Evelyn Lake.
